About Me
I’m Yasir Ahmad, a Principal Software Engineer at Phlo, a digital pharmacy and healthtech scale-up based in the UK.
For the past 5-6 years, my day-to-day engineering has been predominantly in TypeScript across the stack. However, my strongest personal affinity has always been backend and infrastructure work: building resilient services, distributed event systems, and solid platform foundations (with occasional dives into Python, Go, and Rust when exploring side projects).
Projects & Explorations
When time permits outside of work, I tinker with side ideas. Over the summer I explored a couple of open-source projects (both currently paused while work keeps me busy):
- Murshid: A local-first, zero-telemetry coding mentor in Rust that intercepts compiler diagnostics and helps developers learn Socratically.
- OpenBody: An open, vendor-neutral TypeScript parser and standard for portable health and fitness data to prevent platform lock-in.
About This Site
I built this site to give myself a low-friction place to write. For years I fell into the trap of only publishing every few years because I treated each post as a formal project. Now, I use it to capture whatever is on my mind: quick field notes, short observations, or the occasional longer essay.
